Business Development Manager (BDM)

  • Location: Bracknell
  • Hours: Mon-Fri 9am-5pm

IAG’s industrial turnkey farming solution provides farmers with hardware and software optimised to grow crops 365 days a year, without soil or sunlight, whilst maximizing space and increasing yields.

The Role:

As Business Development Manager, you will be critical to the continued success of the business. As BDM, you will be a motivated, self-starter, experienced in identifying new B2B sales opportunities and experienced in managing the client to a successful ‘close’. Developing new markets and new relationships in existing markets will be a key requirement for this role. The business is looking to rapidly expand beyond its initial UK market. The right candidate needs to be able to operate in a global arena. Taking time to understand the industry, the successful candidate will uncover and close new opportunities in allocated regions, evaluating the right commercial direction is key.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities
  • Scale technology sales internationally to operate in key global markets
  • Negotiate and conclude business transactions with clients
  • Develop appropriate commercial strategies to drive revenue growth and KPIs.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with potential clients, partners, and stakeholders
  • Attend industry conferences and events to network and generate new business leads
  • Create and deliver sales presentations and proposals to prospects at decision-maker level
  • Conduct market research and competitor analysis to identify trends, key customer segments/targets and opportunities
  • Collaborate with other departments to develop and execute sales and marketing strategies
  • Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of the company's products and services
  • Drive the product roadmap
  • Work with the management team to develop a go-to-market strategy with key milestones
  • Provide technical and application information support to clients and sales team
  • Represent the voice of the client to the rest of the business

Requirements:

  • 10+ years experience in a high-level sales / account management position preferably within vertical farming or tech industry
  • Experience working on international sales - desirable
  • Experience in working with ERP, CRM and forecasting systems
  • A proven track record of success, working in a strong commercial function
  • Proven communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills with relevant training/experience
  • A can-do attitude and able to work in a fast-paced technical industry
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other sales and marketing software
  • A valid driving licence and have a willingness to travel as required

Chief Engineer

The Role:

As Head of Engineering, your role is to oversee the engineering team, ensuring timely and high-quality development and production of the commercial technology. You will be in responsible for implementation and testing of systems to improve the efficiency, productivity, and sustainability. You will lead the engineering strategy and coordinating all necessary resource in its delivery. The role requires NPD and guided roll out into industry, both UK and globally. Showing desire to accelerate industrial decarbonisation through the application of disruptive green technology. You should have a strong engineering background, leadership experience, and knowledge of the unique challenges of the vertical farming industry. As an early-stage company, the roles are broad and will evolve as there is a progression from core technology to mature product, and will suit a flexible, creative, and proactive individual.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Lead and manage a team of engineers
  • Manage the recruitment and onboarding of new engineers
  • Productionisation of new and existing prototype-demonstrator design
  • Lead successful pilot program to introduce and validate the first product in the industry
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory, environmental and company standards and policies
  • Supply chain design and management
  • QMS implementation and subsequent ISO accreditation
  • Own the department budget, manage expenditure, and provide cost-saving proposals
  • Supplier and contractor relationship management to ensure timely delivery
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to the team and other departments as required Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams such as Sales, Marketing, Plant Science and Operations to identify opportunities for innovation and improvement
  • International project management
  • Oversee the implementation of automation and control systems to optimise plant growth

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering or a related field - preferred
  • Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in engineering/NPD
  • Experienced with NPD (industrial scale), including DfX, cost engineering, make v buy, production-process design and optimisation, validation, and certification
  • Experience in working with ERP, CRM and forecasting systems
  • Proficiency using 3D CAD software
  • Proven ability to lead and manage a team
  • Strong project management skills, including budget management and resource allocation
  • Knowledge of environmental regulations and sustainability practices
  • Proven negotiator with relevant training and/or experience
  • Experience working within industrial equipment OEMs would be considered an asset
  • Knowledge of irrigation, spray systems, automations and control is desirable
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • A proven track record of success, operating at senior management level
  • A can-do attitude and able to work in a fast-paced technical industry
  • Supplier/sub-contract management experience
  • Experience in the vertical farming industry is a plus
  • Valid driving licence and own car– Driving to Bracknell site and supplier visits often required

HR Manager

The Role:

We are looking for an experienced HR Manager to join our vertical farming company. The HR Manager will be responsible for developing and implementing HR policies and procedures, managing recruitment and selection processes, coordinating employee training and development, overseeing performance management and employee relations, and ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements. Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Develop and implement HR policies and procedures in line with company goals and values.
  • Manage the recruitment and onboarding process, including sourcing candidates, conducting interviews, and facilitating the hiring and process.
  • Coordinate employee training and development programs, including orientation, on-the-job training, and career development opportunities.
  • Oversee the performance management process, including setting KPIs, conducting performance reviews, and providing feedback and coaching to employees.
  • Manage employee relations, including resolving conflicts, addressing grievances, and ensuring a positive and respectful workplace environment.
  • Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, including employee laws and health and safety guidelines.
  • Maintain accurate HR records and documentation, including employment contracts
  • Ensure GDPR guidelines are adhered to at all times
  • Prepare HR reports and metrics for senior management, including employee turnover, headcount, and other relevant data.
  • Stay up-to-date with HR trends and best practices and make recommendations for continuous improvement of HR policies and practices.
  • Manage internal communications to promote employee engagement, collaboration, and a positive workplace culture.
  • Be the initial point of contact for any company inbound calls and communication.
  • Manage payroll and approval of team expenses and purchases.
  • Support the wider team as and when business needs arise.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field.
  • CIPD level 5 - preferred
  • 5+ years of experience in HR management, preferably in a similar industry.
  • Strong knowledge of HR policies and practices, employment laws, and regulations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with employees, managers, and senior executives.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to use data to inform HR decisions.
  • Proficiency in HR software and tools, including HRIS systems, applicant tracking systems, and performance management software.
