Project Manager – Engineering & Installations
Overview:
We’re looking for an experienced, hands-on Implementation / Project Manager to take operational lead on our engineering builds, facility installations and internal site enhancements. Your dual focus will be delivering critical external engineering projects, such as the end-to-end installation of GrowLab units at a leading university partner, while driving the project management of our own facility builds and continuous improvement work at our Bracknell facility.
You’ll handle everything from design sign-off and parts procurement to on-site contractor coordination, mechanical/electrical installation, workflow ergonomics and commissioning across our home facility, research partner locations and international programmes. Reporting to the Head of Growing & Engineering, this role offers the chance to shape how IAG builds and scales its technology.
Location:
Full-time, permanent. Based at our Bracknell facility (RG42) for a minimum of 2–3 days per week, with regular travel to other IAG sites, client and research partner locations across the UK, and international travel for project delivery.

Key Responsibilities:
● Take full day-to-day project management ownership of external GrowLab installations, managing timelines, procurement of long-lead items, deliveries, contractor works and final commissioning, and acting as primary contact for client estates and project teams
● Lead internal capital and engineering works at our Bracknell facility, including the build, installation and commissioning of internal GrowLab units and testing prototypes and new system setups before external rollout
● Project manage site improvement and workflow schemes, such as indoor panel-washing and sanitation facilities, custom handling equipment and trolleys for grow panels, and ergonomic, hygiene and layout modifications
● Work with site operatives, growing technicians and plant scientists to identify practical bottlenecks and turn operational feedback into engineering, fabrication or fit-out projects
● Support the design and development of core projects, including international facility builds
● Conduct on-site visits and system reviews at operational and partner facilities, inspecting aeroponic, irrigation, pipework and environmental plant setups and feeding learnings back into future designs
● Collate and manage engineering drawing packages, CAD layouts and Bills of Materials (BOM) across all live projects, working with internal and outsourced draughtspeople to ensure specifications are complete, accurate and signed off before procurement (hands-on CAD origination not required)
● Oversee engineering document control and compliance for project packs, reviewing drawings with site trades, validating works against approved schematics and coordinating redlines back to the design team
● Oversee third-party mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fabrication contractors on site to ensure installations match approved drawings, specifications and quality standards
● Monitor project spend against approved budgets, flag variances early and track delivery milestones against contract terms
● Support the science and growing teams with the engineering aspects of research and agronomic trials
● Support wider company operations and take on further project management duties as directed by senior management
Requirements:
● 3–5+ years’ experience managing multi-disciplinary engineering builds, MEP, industrial installations or technical facility projects from mobilisation through to handover
● Proven experience managing sub-contractors, fabricators and trades on active client or commercial sites
● Ability to read, interpret and collate CAD layouts, engineering drawings, P&IDs and BOMs (CAD drafting is not required, but strong technical literacy is essential)
● Experience delivering workshop, plant or facility modification projects (e.g. washdown systems, material handling equipment, workflow layout improvements)
● Solid commercial understanding of cost tracking, procurement lead times and scope management
● Working knowledge of site health and safety, RAMS and safe working practices
● Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel regularly to project sites, with flexibility for international travel
Desirable:
● Experience within CEA, commercial horticulture, vertical farming, industrial HVAC/refrigeration or process piping
● Experience delivering projects in university, public sector or grant-funded environments
● Experience in lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, or mechanical handling and hygiene infrastructure
● Experience working with dedicated CAD design teams or external draughtspeople
● A relevant project management (e.g. PRINCE2, APM) or engineering qualification
